    The DNA Festival

    The Burrawang DnA Festival is held in the historic village of Burrawang over the October Long Weekend, Oct 4th - 5th 2014.

    The festival showcases the talents of over 20 exhibitors across a range of disciplines: from ceramics to weaving; sculpture to jewellery; furniture to art.

    There are several workshops available, taking place over the course of the weekend.

    There will also be produce markets in the grounds of the Burrawang hotel, showing off the best of local produce and plenty more going on in the village.

    On Saturday the 4th October, The Burrawang Hotel will celebrate all the creative talent in the Highlands. 

    A highlight of the Burrawang DnA Festival weekend will be a colourful indoor and outdoor evening at the famous Burrawang Hotel with two amazing live bands: top Highlands blues band Jewel Tones Trio and Eleven Eleven Nation, which plays a unique and eclectic mix of blues, world and rock.

    Celebrated Highland¹s artist Carlos Barrios will be painting live in the pub (accompanied by an acoustic guitarist and blues singer) with one lucky raffle ticket winning the painting, valued at $10,000. Carlos will start painting at 6pm with the draw taking place at 8pm on the night.

    The exhibition is being held in the Burrawang School of arts, 10am - 4pm and Entry to the Festival Exhibition on the Saturday and Sunday is FREE TO THE PUBLIC. How much you spend inside is up to you! To find out more, see the website www.dnafestival.com

    Ranger discovery programme:

    2 OCT: WILDERQUEST - FINDING FOOD IN THE FOREST. Guided tour with Aboriginal Discovery Rangers finding bush tucker and treasures in places you least expect. 10.30 - 12.00noon. Children $10, adults free. Bring sun protection, water and snack. Parks pass or $3 vehicle entry fee applies. Meet at Fitzroy Falls Visitor Centre.

    4 OCT: GLOW WORM GLEN ADVENTURE. Come for a guided adventure, descending into the darkness of the glen and passing through several worlds, including the world of wombats and watch the glow worms light up. Find out why they live here & how they glow. 7.00 - 8.30pm. $10 per person. Meet William Street, Bundanoon. Bring torch, water, sensible footwear. No insect repellent please.     25th-26th Oct, Bundanoon Garden Ramble:

    Enjoy private village gardens opened specially for this weekend and featuring an abundance of Spring flowering cold climate plants.  Browse the Garden Market where plants and gifts are for sale.  Visit the Craft and Textile exhibition.  See the scarecrows, floral display and a working display of old farm engines.  Hire a bicycle or bring your own for the day.  Stay for the weekend and explore the many delights that Bundanoon offers. Free shuttle to gardens. Bundanoon Memorial Hall and Village.

    26th Oct, The annual Chevalier College Fete and Southern Highlands Motorfest.

    A fabulous social day with all of the traditional fete favourites including cake, craft, hot food, book, produce, plant, silent auction, hamper, trash'n'treasure and clothing stalls. PLUS a great range of entertainment on stage all day, championship wood chopping and activities for kids of all ages. Commences 10.00am. For enquiries call Pam on 0438 691 259.
